The Mountain Zone of USA Water Polo will be conducting its Biannual Zone Meeting on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 2:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center Tennis Clubhouse, 5624 S. 4800 W., in Kearns, Utah (suburb of Salt Lake City). All registered members of USA Water Polo residing in the Mountain Zone are invited to attend (although must be at least 18 years old to vote).
As per the By-Laws of USA Water Polo, the following elections must occur:
* Eight (8) members to serve in the House of Delegates of USA Water Polo.
* Two (2) athlete representatives (one male, one female, at least 18 years old) to serve on the Athletes Advisory Council and in the House of Delegates.
* One (1) representative to each of the Standing Committees:
1. Events Committee
2. Masters Committee
3. Men's International and Olympic Committee
4. Women's International and Olympic Committee
5. National Coaches Committee
6. National Referees Committee
7. Rules Committee
8. National Development Committee
Other items of business at the Zone Meeting will include:
* Election of Zone Chair.
* Election of four other Zone Executive Board members.
* Reports from current Zone Chair and Standing Committee members.
* Discuss 2005 Zone Teams.
* Discuss Zone Finances.
* Discuss Zone Strategic Plan
* Other zone related issues.
Those interested in serving in a position are expected to attend the USA Water Polo Annual Meetings, generally held Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend (2nd or 3rd weekend in January). 2005 in Houston, TX. 2006 to be announced.
Nominations for all positions will be accepted in advance to the Zone Chair by November 30 to be on the ballot. Nominations may also be made at the meeting. A person nominated is not required to be at the meeting to be elected. There will be no proxy voting. Only those currently registered with USA water Polo, residing in the Mountain Zone, at least 18 years old, and in attendance at the meeting are allowed to vote. The meeting will also be conducted by conference call for those not able to attend in person. More information on the conference call number and code will be distributed later.
